The story
In 1959, B.P.R.D. senior agent Hellboy and rookie Bobbie Jo Song are escorting a train carrying a mystical spider entity back to Bureau headquarters. When the cargo is lost in the Appalachian Mountains after a monstrous transformation, the agents find themselves stranded. They encounter Tom Ferrell, a war veteran seeking redemption, and his connection to a witch named Cora Fisher. As the group navigates the treacherous terrain, they discover that a dark presence, known as the Crooked Man, is haunting the area. The agents must navigate the local folklore and the looming threat of the entity to ensure the safety of the survivors.

In 1959, Hellboy and Bobbie Jo Song are escorting a mystical spider when it transforms and escapes, leaving them stranded in the Appalachian Mountains. They meet Tom Ferrell, a veteran who previously made a pact with the Crooked Man. They also encounter Cora Fisher, a witch whose body is temporarily 'empty' due to a demonic familiar. Tom reveals he has a 'lucky bone' to ward off the Crooked Man, but he fears his past actions allowed the entity to cross into the human realm. After a series of supernatural encounters, including the death of Tom's father and the death of Cora at the hands of a demonic snake, the group retreats into a church. There, they are confronted by the Crooked Man and his servants. While the Crooked Man tries to tempt the local Reverend with immortality, the Reverend provides a blessed shovel to help Hellboy fight. The group eventually faces the Crooked Man in an abandoned mansion. Bobbie Jo and the Reverend enter a mine system to dispel the souls feeding the entity, allowing Hellboy and Tom to defeat the Crooked Man. In the aftermath, Effie Kolb is saved by Tom's father's enchanted bridle, and a warning is left on a white horse.
