Full plot (contains spoilers)
Ben Stikker (Thor Braun) wants to learn magic, especially the secret of the disappearing trick. Together with his well-meaning but clumsy unemployed father, Koos (Theo Maassen), he takes a course. Ben’s girlfriend, Sylvie (Java Siegertsz), becomes the assistant. During a performance, Koos makes Sylvie disappear inside a double wall. However, he cannot make her reappear. They search for her and wait a few days to see if she turns up again, while her mother (Caroline De Bruijn) thinks she is staying with someone. After a few days, Koos and Ben decide to confess the disappearance to her mother. The police investigate. Ben finds Sylvie: she left during the trick and is now hiding to teach her wealthy mother, who never has time for her, a lesson. Ben has to promise not to tell anyone. Sylvie now has the problem that her mother would be angry with her if she told her what she had done. Together with magician Hans Smid (Daan Schuurmans), who has been adversely affected by the disappearance because it gives the disappearing trick a bad reputation, they work out a plan in which Sylvie will return during a magic show. Koos is not told that Sylvie has been found; he thinks she may have ended up in an in-between world, and is persuaded to try to bring her back during the show. Sylvie does indeed reappear, and, as planned, it remains hidden that she staged her own disappearance. Koos seems to have disappeared in her place, but then he reappears too.
