In a world where each life lasts one day and events happen only once, two lovers deliberately seek hell to experience sex more than once.

The story

Benny and Gini grow up in a world where each human life lasts a single day and everything happens only once. Bodily growth, schooling and even pregnancy unfold at an accelerated pace, while speech and other actions occur at normal speed. Repetition is viewed negatively; good people go to a heaven where time lasts only a moment, while the ordinary world is where repetition can occur. After falling in love, Benny and Gini want to experience intimacy more than once, so they decide to go to hell.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Benny (Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen) and Gini (Loïs Dols de Jong) grow up in a world where every human life lasts just one day and everything happens only once. The body’s growth and aging, schooling, even Benny’s training as a fighter pilot, and pregnancy all proceed proportionally faster, although people speak and perform other actions at a normal speed. Parents send their child to school and do not see them again for the rest of their childhood, because it all takes place at school in half a day. Repetition is considered very negative. Good people go to heaven, where time lasts just a single moment. After they die, bad people go to what is regarded here as hell: the ordinary world, where repetition is possible and also happens frequently. Benny and Gini fall in love and have sex. They want to do this more often, so they decide to go to hell. To do so, they commit a murder. As expected, they are sentenced to death and end up in hell, but they cannot find each other. From then on, for almost the entire second half of the film, the screen is continuously split: Gini is on the left and Benny on the right. They both have sex with other people (and Benny sometimes gets paid to have sex with women), but eventually they find each other. They are both sitting in the back of a bus; the two halves of the screen line up, revealing that they are on the same bus.
