Paula Andersen is an educator from Berlin who lives with Josh, her gay roommate. She met him eight years earlier, after Jan left her at a gas station. One day, Paula receives an invitation to the wedding of Jan and his future wife, Yvette, but she is very reluctant to attend, though Josh eventually persuades her, offering to accompany her as her date. However, Josh breaks his leg, so Paula asks her next-door neighbor, Ben, to go with her, even though he cannot figure out what she has in mind. At the wedding, though, the two get to know each other, and Jan seems fascinated by Paula and the man who appears to be her new boyfriend.
