The story
Following a mysterious outbreak that has devastated the United States, a family of three—Ray, Claire, and their daughter Zoe—take refuge in an abandoned fallout shelter. As the Air Force begins bombing their town, the family must navigate the claustrophobic confines of the bunker, adhering to strict rules to remain hidden. The tension escalates as they realize they are being hunted, and the primary goal for the parents is to ensure Zoe's safety at any cost as they endure the isolation of the bunker.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After a mysterious outbreak and a subsequent military crackdown, a family of three hides in an abandoned fallout shelter. They are hunted by 'Breathers'—later revealed to be soldiers in protective gear. During a lapse in safety, a fire creates smoke that alerts the Breathers, and Zoe's doll makes noise, leading to a breach of the shelter. Ray is separated and later revealed to be infected, showing superhuman strength. Claire and Zoe eventually escape into the wasteland, where they are captured by soldiers. It is revealed that the 'Breathers' are actually soldiers and that the family has already been infected by an airborne virus. After a violent confrontation where the women's infected states are revealed, they find a sewer system and encounter other survivors, realizing they have survived for over 300 days.
