A young woman must return to her Bavarian family farm and meet her grandmother’s inheritance conditions while balancing a new life in Munich.

The story

Hanna unexpectedly inherits half of her grandmother Berta’s farm in Lower Bavaria, but the will imposes demanding conditions: for four weeks she must run the farm with her cousin Max and sleep there every night, or the inheritance will go to the Church. Pastor Brenner monitors the arrangement. Hanna must juggle farm work with her commitments in Munich, where she is poised to become a partner in Alex’s coffee bar and their relationship is more than professional. Alex visits the farm, but its rural life and people leave him unimpressed, forcing Hanna to consider the pull between her former home and the future she has been building in the city.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Hanna unexpectedly inherits half of her grandmother Berta’s farm in Lower Bavaria. But the conditions in the will are difficult to meet, and they bring the young woman from Munich back to her former home for four weeks. During this time, she has to run the farm together with her cousin Max. She also has to sleep there every night; otherwise, the entire inheritance will go to the Church. The conditions are strictly monitored by Pastor Brenner. Hanna now has to keep up not only with the work on the farm but also with her commitments in Munich. There, she is about to become a partner in Alex’s coffee bar, and their relationship is more than just professional. Alex visits her at the farm and is unimpressed by the smell of pigs and the people in the area. On his next visit to Munich, he tells her that the farm and those people are not right for them. Hanna points out that she grew up there. Meanwhile, Max finds some letters in the attic of the late grandmother that clearly indicate Lorenz is not Hanna’s biological father. When Hanna asks her mother about it, her mother admits that she had a brief romantic relationship with a man named Wolfgang. However, until now she had not known that her husband and his mother had always known about it. They loved Hanna as if she were their own child and granddaughter. Hanna goes to Munich with her little half-sister and wants to give up the inheritance, since she is no longer the late grandmother Bertha’s granddaughter. Her friend, however, wants to support her and help out at the café in Munich so that Hanna can still claim her inheritance and keep it from going to the Church. Max wants to support her on the farm. He is no longer her cousin, and he is in love with her. Lorenz, the father of her little sister, has had a heart attack, and Hanna picks her sister up in Passau. It is Hanna’s birthday, and she is sad that only her friend from Munich remembered and wished her a happy birthday by phone. But when she arrives at the farm, she sees that she was mistaken: Max has organized a surprise party. At the end, there is also a video from her grandmother, who once again assures Hanna of her love, and Hanna and Max inherit the farm in equal shares. Her mother has also since forgiven her for dropping out of her law studies to bake cakes and tarts for other people. Hanna and Max will run the farm, and Hanna will also operate a small café, since her mother, who is a lawyer, wants to help her get out of her contract in Munich because the signature on it was not Hanna’s but her friend’s.
