A mismatched trio of cows must team up to capture a notorious cattle rustler to save their farm from foreclosure.

The story

In 1889, amidst the Old West, wanted cattle rustler Alameda Slim depletes almost all cattle from the Dixon Ranch, leaving only a single show cow, Maggie. The ranch owner, Abner Dixon, sells her to a kind woman named Pearl Gesner, who runs a small farm called Patch of Heaven. When Pearl is told she must pay back the bank in three days or lose the farm, Maggie convinces two other cows, Grace and Mrs. Calloway, to head to town to win prize money. They discover that capturing Slim will provide the necessary reward to save the farm, leading them on a quest to find the rustler.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In 1889, cattle rustler Alameda Slim leaves Maggie as the only cow on the Dixon Ranch. She is sold to Pearl Gesner at Patch of Heaven. When Pearl faces foreclosure, Maggie, Grace, and Mrs. Calloway decide to capture Slim for his bounty. They are joined by Lucky Jack, a peg-legged rabbit, and eventually team up with Buck, a horse who wants to be a hero like the bounty hunter Rico. During their quest, Slim uses his yodeling to hypnotize cattle, and the cows face internal conflicts and a flash flood. They eventually discover Slim's hideout and his plan to buy the land under a false identity. The cows, Buck, and Jack defeat Slim and expose him. Pearl uses the reward money to save the farm, and the cows celebrate by winning prizes at the State Fair.
