After his father’s heart attack, Karl returns to the family farm and faces a difficult choice about its future and who might share it with him.
The story
When Josef suffers a heart attack, his son Karl returns to the family farm, which he had left because he could no longer bear his father blaming him for his sister’s death. Their reunion is marked by continued clashes. As Karl considers taking over the farm, he must also consider whom he might build that future with. One possibility is Leni, his childhood friend, who runs her own farm with her daughter. Another is Sophie, a stripper whose family once grew hops but lost the business after an uninsured hailstorm.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After his father, Josef, suffers a heart attack, son Karl returns to the family farm. He had left because he could no longer live with the blame his father placed on him for his sister’s death. Father and son keep clashing. When Karl wants to take over the farm, the question arises: with whom? There is his childhood friend Leni, who runs her own farm with her daughter, and then there is Sophie, a stripper. Her family once grew hops too, but had to give up the business after a hailstorm because they were not insured against it.
