Hoppla, jetzt kommt Eddie (1958)

Eddie Petersen has been hired to look after the two Gonzales sisters, daughters of a Central American oil magnate, along with their friend Juanita Perez and their traveling companion, Maria Mattoni, and to show them around Hamburg. When he goes to pick the women up from their hotel the next day, they have vanished. Eddie himself spent the night in the basement of a seedy establishment, brutally beaten after an attack, and only managed to free himself with difficulty in the morning. He wastes no time and sets out to look for the women. He soon realizes that the “diplomat” Manuel Fanton and his gang are likely behind the crime. The trail first leads him to Travemünde, but he cannot find the kidnapped women there. Back in Hamburg, his first stop is the landlord of the “Red Cat,” hoping to learn more from him, especially since he had been “privileged” to spend an unwilling night in the man’s basement. While he is there, a barmaid slips him the news that the basement is occupied again. The “prisoner” is Maria Mattoni, who thanks her rescuer. The new lead in the search for the missing women takes Eddie to Copenhagen. There he first finds two impostor Gonzales sisters and an impostor Juanita Perez, but later he finds the real sisters. Juanita Perez, however, is nowhere to be found. After a series of upheavals and putting his hard fists to use, Eddie finally manages to bring the case to a satisfactory conclusion for his employer in the area around Hamburg: Fanton and his cronies are taking the ladies’ heartthrob and his entourage down the Elbe on a motor yacht, intending to dispose of them when the opportunity arises. But the water police become aware of the scheme, rescue Eddie and the women from their predicament, and put the crooks behind bars.
