Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1978 Italy, Patrizia Reggiani meets Maurizio Gucci, an heir to the Gucci fashion house. Despite his father's warnings that she is only after his wealth, Maurizio marries her. When Patrizia becomes pregnant, she involves Maurizio's uncle, Aldo, who takes them under his wing. Following Rodolfo's death, Patrizia forges his signature to secure a stake in the company. She then attempts to gain a controlling interest by manipulating Aldo's son, Paolo, and navigating a conflict over the sale of counterfeit goods. After Aldo is imprisoned for tax evasion and Paolo is sidelined, Patrizia and Maurizio's relationship begins to fracture. Maurizio eventually seeks a divorce and hires Tom Ford to revitalize the brand. As Patrizia's fury grows, she hires hitmen to assassinate Maurizio, who is killed in broad daylight. Patrizia is eventually sentenced to prison for murder, while the Gucci brand is fully acquired by Investcorp, leaving no family members in the company.
