The story
On death row for murder, Becket Redfellow speaks with a priest about his past. Raised by a single mother who was disowned by the wealthy Redfellow family, Becket was taught to fight for the life he deserved. Years later, as a luxury suit salesman in New York City, he discovers that due to a legal loophole, he is still in line for the massive Redfellow fortune. After being demoted from his job and encountering a childhood friend, Becket decides to eliminate the remaining members of the wealthy family to claim the inheritance for himself.

While on death row, Becket Redfellow recounts his life. After being disowned by his wealthy family, he grew up determined to claim the life he deserved. As an adult in New York, he discovers he is eligible for the $28 billion Redfellow fortune. He begins a campaign of murder, killing his cousin Taylor, then Noah, and later poisoning his cousin Steven and aunt Cassandra, while causing his uncle MacArthur to crash his plane. He eventually befriends and dates Ruth, while being pressured by Julia Steinway. After his uncle Warren dies of a heart attack, Becket faces his grandfather, Whitelaw, who demands he kill him to inherit the fortune. Becket kills Whitelaw in self-defense and becomes the sole heir. However, he is arrested for the murder of Julia's husband, Lyle. In prison, Julia offers to reveal a suicide note that could prove his innocence if he signs over the fortune to her. He agrees, and the note is released, proving his innocence and setting him free. He is eventually reunited with Julia and they drive to the mansion together.
