Full plot (contains spoilers)
Maddie Young, a deaf and hard-of-hearing horror author, lives alone in the woods. When her neighbor Sarah is attacked by a masked killer and flees to Maddie's house, the killer realizes Maddie's disability and targets her. The killer cuts the power, punctures her tires, and stalks her while she tries to communicate via text. After the killer stabs Sarah, he begins a terrifying game of cat-and-mouse with Maddie. She manages to wound him with a hammer and later shoots him in the shoulder with a crossbow after he tries to kill her cat. A man named John arrives looking for Sarah; the killer poses as a police officer but is eventually killed by Maddie's intervention. The final confrontation occurs in the kitchen where Maddie blinds the killer with insecticide and stabs him with a corkewire. She survives and calls 9-1-1 as the police arrive.
