Hvidsten gruppen (2012)

In March 1943, while Denmark was occupied by Germany, what would prove to be one of the most important groups in the Danish resistance movement was formed at Hvidsten Inn. At the initiative of Flemming Juncker, innkeeper Marius Fiil was approached and asked whether he would start a group to receive shipments from England. Flemming Juncker was the leader of the Jutland resistance movement and the owner of Overgaard Estate near Udbyneder, just south of Mariager Fjord. He later had to flee to England. Marius Fiil accepted the request and gathered a group around the inn. The drops took place in the fields at Allestrupgård, not far from Hvidsten, where the emptied containers could be hidden in the marshes.
