The story

Note: The story is mostly fictional with few true historical events. While forced labor camps existed in communist Bulgaria during the Cold War, David's story is entirely fictional. In 1951, a 12 year old boy named David, who is most likely Jewish and the child of parents who were political prisoners, escapes from a forced labor camp in the communist People's Republic of Bulgaria where he lived for most of his time.
