The story

Bart Millard, the lead singer of the band MercyMe, is navigating life with his wife Shannon and their five children, including their son Sam who has Type 1 diabetes. When the band is unexpectedly promoted to headliners for a tour, Bart's manager brings in Tim Timmons, a fellow Christian musician, as the opening act. As they hit the road, Bart struggles to write a new hit song while Tim and his son Sam form an unexpected bond. Amidst the challenges of touring and personal struggles, the two men find themselves navigating the complexities of faith, family, and the pursuit of their musical dreams.

Bart Millard, lead singer of MercyMe, tours with his wife Shannon and their children, including Sam, who has Type 1 diabetes. The band is promoted to headliners, and they hire Tim Timmons as the opening act. Tim, whose wife Hilary is pregnant, is struggling with a cancer diagnosis. During the tour, Tim and Sam become close, and Tim eventually asks Bart to write new verses for a song titled 'Even If'. After a series of complications, including Sam's health and Tim's health, the two men reconcile their differences. Bart eventually records the verses, and the song becomes a massive success. Tim survives his cancer and becomes a father to four children, while Sam continues his musical career under the name 'Sam Wesley'.
