The story
Marla Grayson is a con artist who exploits the legal system to become a court-appointed guardian for elderly individuals, allowing her to seize and sell their assets. She targets a wealthy retiree named Jennifer Peterson, who has no apparent close family. After successfully obtaining guardianship and moving Jennifer into a facility, Marla begins to profit from the woman's belongings. However, the situation escalates when Marla discovers a stash of valuables and realizes that Jennifer is the mother of a dangerous crime lord. Marla must navigate the escalating tensions and threats from the man's organization while trying to maintain her lucrative scheme.

Marla Grayson operates a scheme where she gains legal guardianship of elderly people to sell their assets. She targets Jennifer Peterson, a wealthy woman whose son, Roman Lunyov, is a powerful crime lord. After Marla finds a safe deposit box containing gold and diamonds, the situation turns volatile. Roman's men attempt to find his mother, and Marla is forced into a high-stakes negotiation with the mafia. After a series of violent encounters and a failed attempt by Roman to seize Jennifer, Marla and her partner Fran flee to a remote property. They eventually capture Roman and, after a series of events that leave him without an identity, Marla is appointed as his legal guardian. She strikes a deal with him to become a wealthy CEO in a global business based on her scam. While she achieves success and marries her partner, she is eventually confronted and shot by a man whose mother died in the facility, ending her life.
