In politically charged Rome, two groups of young people are drawn into escalating violence from very different circumstances.

The story

In Rome, young people face political ferment, clashes between opposing factions, and collective fervor, while others struggle with hunger and poverty. The story follows two groups: a neo-fascist circle led by Marco Garroni, a wealthy young man from Parioli, and a small group from the outskirts led by Schizzo. The first group is characterized by bullying and machismo; the second is drawn toward violence through imitation. Their stories converge as violence spreads through both groups.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Rome. Young people live through days of political ferment, clashes between opposing factions, and collective fervor. But among them are also those who take no political side and instead live with the daily ordeal of hunger and poverty. The story weaves together two episodes: the violence committed by a neo-fascist group led by Marco Garroni, a wealthy young man from Parioli with a warped mindset, and the violence carried out—and ultimately put into action—by a small group of young people from the outskirts, led by Schizzo. Among them are Nerone, a mad masochist who loves inflicting cutting wounds on himself, and Gorilla, a strong young man who likes to act tough. The first group has violence, bullying, and machismo in its blood; the second would be incapable of harming a fly if it were not swept up in a spirit of imitation. And so violence and deaths occur on both sides, but in the end the real culprit pays dearly: Garroni, responsible for the murder of a girl named Gianna, who was subjected to atrocious violence, is hunted by the police. As he tries to flee abroad, he drives his Fiat 1800 into a ravine.
