Full plot (contains spoilers)

One year after the murders of her friends, Julie James is haunted by nightmares while attending classes in Boston. When her roommate wins a trip to the Bahamas, Julie and her friends travel to the island. While there, they are stalked by Ben Willis, a vengeful fisherman. After a series of murders—including a dockhand, a housekeeper, and a local man—the group realizes they are trapped by a storm. Julie eventually confesses her involvement in a crime from two years prior. They discover a local man, Estes, is using voodoo to 'protect' them, but he is eventually found dead. The group is hunted by Ben, who is revealed to be the father of their friend Will. In a final confrontation, Ray manages to fight Will, and Julie shoots Ben dead. Although the survivors are rescued, the film ends with a twist: Julie sees Ben's spirit beneath her bed in her new home.
