The Herd and Buck must embark on a desperate mission to stop a massive asteroid from striking Earth after a mishap in space.
The story
When Scrat is propelled into outer space in an abandoned spaceship during an attempt to bury his acorn, he accidentally sends a giant asteroid towards Earth. The herd, including Manny, Sid, and Diego, along with the one-eyed weasel Buck, must navigate a perilous journey to find a way to stop the impending celestial impact. Their quest leads them through various landscapes and into a hidden community of long-living animals, all while facing obstacles and the interference of a group of dromaeosaurs who have their own plans for the planet.

The story begins with Peaches getting engaged to Julian, a mammoth whom Manny distrusts. While the herd prepares for a celebration, Scrat's actions in space send an asteroid toward Earth. Buck discovers a stone pillar indicating that asteroids have caused past extinctions and suggests a nearby volcano as the site to stop the next one. They are pursued by dromaeosaurs who want to use the chaos to rule the Earth. Along the way, they reach Geotopia, where Sid falls for Brooke, a ground sloth. Sid accidentally destroys the city's crystals, causing the residents to age rapidly. The herd and the Geotopians eventually cooperate to fill a volcano with crystals to create a magnetic field to deflect the asteroid. They succeed, and a shard of crystal falls into a spring, restoring the youth of the Geotopians. The film ends with the herd returning home, where Peaches and Julian marry and Sid reunites with a rejuvenated Brooke.
