Full plot (contains spoilers)

After a successful year as a businesswoman, Munich boutique owner Marianne Neuhaus decides to take a holiday in the countryside. On her way to Hannes Kleebauer’s horse farm in Austria, she meets Lil, a friendly blonde Dane, and gives her a ride in her car. Kleebauer is a handsome, middle-aged widower. He would like to marry again, but his jealous underage daughter Christl is a little devil who does everything she can to scare off any potential wife as subtly as possible. So, as expected, Marianne and Lil are not exactly welcomed with open arms when they arrive at Kleebauer’s horse farm. Christl instinctively senses that they are serious competition for her father’s favor and undivided attention. To disarm Christl, Marianne promises the nine-year-old that she has no intention of taking her father away from her. But, as fate would have it, Hannes and Marianne fall in love. Christl now believes Marianne deliberately deceived her and wants to get even by running away from home. Along the way, she meets two odd characters of the “bumbling petty crook” variety and persuades the pair of shady figures to stage Christl’s kidnapping for her father, Hannes. Hannes and Marianne are very worried about the girl, but eventually the two would-be kidnappers lose their nerve and simply leave Christl where she is before they can be arrested. Furious at the crooks’ unreliability, Christl rows out onto a pond and tumbles into the water. Marianne’s quick intervention saves Christl from drowning. By rescuing her, the woman from Munich finally wins Hannes’s daughter’s heart as well.
