Full plot (contains spoilers)
Adelina von Gentz is known as a dyed-in-the-wool “man-eater” and bluestocking, and for this reason she writes to her friend Helga, urging her to stand up to her husband, Rudolf Walters. The newly married couple happen to be heading to Krummhübel in Silesia, where Adelina lives, as part of their honeymoon. By the time they arrive, they are at odds with each other. This is the ideal opportunity for Adelina to take her friend’s “godlike husband” in hand. So the aristocrat disguises herself as a chambermaid and takes a job at the hotel where the Walters couple are staying. There, however, she meets a man who shares her target’s name, and he soon cures Adelina of her anti-male attitude. In the end, Adelina has not only fallen in love, but has also reconciled Helga and her husband.
