The story tells of the life of Anne de Breuil, better known as Milady de Winter, famous for being the enemy of the three musketeers. She is a cruel woman with a dark past linked to that of the Comte de La Fère, first as his wife and later as his adversary. She manages to survive her husband’s attempt to kill her, and later encounters him again under the name Athos. In the end, she is taken to the scaffold, where the executioner is revealed to be the brother of one of her former lovers.
