Il colonnello Buttiglione diventa generale (1974)

Colonel Rambaldo Buttiglione and his aide, Sergeant Mastino, have to contend with incompetent recruits, pompous supervisors, and soldiers who do nothing but waste time. After his regiment nearly sabotages a NUTO maneuver (a parody of the real NATO) with accidental explosions, he is made a general to remove him from operational duty. However, at the end of the film, Buttiglione dies when his birthday cake explodes; it has mistakenly been decorated with sticks of dynamite instead of candles. He then finds himself in hell and meets Sergeant Mastino, who appears as the devil under the name Minos.
