Immenhof - Das Abenteuer eines Sommers (2019)

Three orphaned sisters live at the Immenhof riding estate: Charly is 23, Lou is 16, and Emmie is 12. Since their father’s death, they have run the estate together. Lou knows a great deal about horses and contributes to the estate’s financial success. She had a close, trusting relationship with her father and is deeply affected by his death. The youth welfare office is assessing whether Charly can look after her two younger sisters on her own. Conflicts arise with Jochen Mallinckroth, the owner of the neighboring stud farm, and Runa, his horse trainer. Lou and her childhood friend Matz rescue Cagliostro, a valuable racehorse belonging to Mallinckroth that is stuck in a bog. Afterward, the horse is no longer fit to race because he refuses to go into enclosed spaces such as a stall, a transporter, or a starting gate. Mallinckroth criticizes the rescue as improper and calls in an old loan secured against the Immenhof. Because of financial difficulties, the three sisters are in danger of losing the estate. They are then reluctantly forced to sell their most valuable horse, the mare Holly, to Mallinckroth. The Immenhof receives support from Leon, a YouTuber from Berlin who has to complete community service there. Both Leon and Matz are interested in Lou. Lou offers Mallinckroth a deal: she will correct Cagliostro’s behavior if he gives Holly back in return. Using the Join-Up method, she gets Cagliostro into the starting gate, but he still cannot win the upcoming race because he gets caught between two competitors. Lou then undertakes desensitization training with him, and the attempt succeeds. The Immenhof can continue operating, and Leon returns to Berlin.
