Full plot (contains spoilers)

Edward Astor, son of the immensely wealthy American William Astor, has been missing without a trace since returning from a trip to India. He had brought back a local man from the trip, who had served as his attendant ever since. The young Ellinor Glyn, owner of the New York Times, wants to investigate the mysterious affair and pulls every available string to track Edward down. At her side is the sharp-witted reporter Bob Dickson. The two eventually locate the millionaire’s son, who has fallen into the clutches of an Indian cult. In Byapur, they rescue him from the high priest of Kali, who is about to offer Edward as a sacrifice to that very goddess.
