The story

After years away, Maja returns to her family’s struggling farm and confronts unresolved grief, strained relationships, and the possibility of a new beginning.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Maja left home five years ago because she blames herself for the death of her younger brother, Linus. She now works with Tove at a physiotherapy clinic. Her grandfather Benno’s birthday is coming up, and she takes the opportunity to revisit her old home. When she helps a young man named Michel, whose dog has stepped on a shard of glass, she misses the bus to the station. Michel offers to drive her straight to her destination. When they arrive, they come across Elias, Maja’s ex-boyfriend, and help him out of a difficult situation. Her mother is not at all pleased to see Maja again, because she still cannot forgive her. While there, Maja learns that the family farm is in a bad way, though her grandfather Benno, who still owns it, knows nothing about this. The tractor is broken, and a storm has caused extensive damage that they will have to pay for themselves because they did not have insurance. Her best friend Noomi lends them a tractor, so at least they can save the hay. When Maja repairs the barn, Elias helps her, and they grow close again. But just then, Michel turns up. Maja’s father, Samu, applied for a teaching job in London and has now been offered the position. But he doesn’t dare tell the family. When Ingrid answers a phone call about it, she is surprised; she then finds the letter and confronts her husband. In the meantime, Noomi has revealed to Maja the true identity of her new acquaintance Michel: he is the creator of the “Dr. Love” app and is quite wealthy. Maja has an idea for saving the farm and asks Michel to review her proposal. When Maja happens to run into Elias at the harbor and they fool around like they used to, they finally kiss and sleep together. Afterwards, they start arguing, and Maja already regrets what she has done. Grandfather Benno finds discarded pieces of the presentation in Maja’s room and is angry that no one talked to him. Ingrid makes it clear to him that the farm is bankrupt and this is the only way to save it. After his argument with Maja, Elias relents and investigates exactly what happened on the day Linus died. He discovers that his father, Sören, went to see Ingrid to deliver a message from Maja’s biological father. Linus overheard this and wanted to tell his sister as soon as possible. Maja then leaves the farm. Michel drives her back to Stockholm. After Ingrid admits that she was at fault, she decides to go to London with Samu, so Benno decides to sell the farm. Michel returns and meets Noomi at the bar; they had a 91% “match” on his app. Maja’s mother visits her and explains the whole situation with her biological father. When Maja then also learns that Benno is selling the farm, she wants to go back immediately to stop it. Just before signing, however, Benno has second thoughts and meets Maja outside, completely distraught. He explains things to her, and Maja promises to help him make a fresh start. Maja wants to know from Sören where Elias is. Elias has quit his job at the law firm and wants to renovate boats again. She finds him at the harbor and asks him to forgive her.
