The story
In the present day, parapsychologist Elise Rainier is contacted by a man named Ted Garza, who reports paranormal activity at his home. Upon arrival, Elise realizes the location is her own childhood home. As she begins her investigation, she encounters a haunting that triggers memories of her past as a teenager. Alongside her colleagues, Specs and Tucker, Elise must navigate the supernatural dangers of the house while confronting the trauma of her upbringing and the mystery of a spirit she first encountered years ago.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1953, Elise Rainier is haunted by a spirit in her home and, after a confrontation with her father, opens a mysterious red door, releasing a demonic spirit known as 'Keyface' that kills her mother. Fifty-seven years later, Elise, now a paranormal investigator, is hired by Ted Garza to investigate his home—which is her childhood home. She discovers a hidden room where her father had imprisoned women, and she realizes the spirit she saw as a girl was a victim named Anna. During the investigation, Keyface attacks, sending Elise and others into the 'Further.' In this spirit realm, Elise discovers that Keyface has been feeding on the fear of the women held by her father and Ted. She eventually faces Keyface and her father's spirit, ultimately defeating the demon with her mother's spirit's help. The survivors escape back to the real world, and Elise reconciles with her brother, Christian, while a new mystery involving a boy named Dalton is introduced.
