The story
In the Lecco area of Mandello, overlooking Onno on Lake Como, a garbage collector in his thirties lives with mental health problems rooted in childhood physical and psychological abuse. An imaginary character who “lives” in his house drives him to kill. His life intersects with that of a thirteen-year-old girl from a wealthy family, whom he rescues after she attempts suicide by drowning. Their stories also connect with a woman known as “the mother,” who independently investigates incidents of violence against women.
