A group of outcast children must confront a terrifying, shape-shifting entity that stalks their town.

The story

In the fictional town of Derry, Maine, a group of seven outcast children known as 'The Losers' Club' are terrorized by a mysterious, ancient entity. This being, which emerges from the sewer in the form of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, stalks the children and manifests as their individual worst fears. As the children face these terrifying manifestations, they must navigate their own personal demons while trying to survive the entity's hunt. The group realizes they are being stalked by the same entity, which they dub 'It,' and they must find a way to confront the monster before it consumes them.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In 1988, young Georgie Denbrough is attacked and killed by Pennywise the Dancing Clown in a storm drain. The following summer, his brother Bill and his friends—Richie, Eddie, Stanley, Ben, Beverly, and Mike—form 'The Losers' Club' to confront the entity. They discover that 'It' is an ancient being that awakens every 27 years to feed on children, appearing as their deepest fears. After a confrontation in a house on Neibolt Street, the group is separated. Later, they reunite to rescue Beverly from the entity's clutches. They descend into the sewers, where they find the lair of 'It' filled with the remains of past victims. In a final confrontation, they overcome their fears and defeat Pennywise, forcing it back into a well. The film ends with the group making a blood oath to return if the entity ever resurfaces, while Bill and Beverly share a moment of connection.
