Twenty-seven years after their initial victory, the members of the Losers Club must reunite in their hometown to face the ancient evil known as Pennywise once more.

The story

Set 27 years after the events of the first film, the story centers on the Losers Club and their relationships as they reunite to destroy It once and for all. In 2016, Pennywise the Dancing Clown returns to Derry, Maine, and begins a new reign of terror. Mike Hanlon, the only member of the Losers Club who remained in Derry, summons the other members to return to their hometown. They must confront their past and the fact that the entity they defeated in 1989 has resurfaced, forcing them to fulfill their old oath to destroy it before it can claim more victims.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In 2016, Pennywise returns to Derry, Maine, and kills a man named Adrian Mellon. Mike Hanlon, the only original member left in town, summons the others. While they reunite, some members are lost, including Stanley Uris, who commits suicide. The group learns of the threat and prepares to fight. They use artifacts from their past to perform the 'Ritual of Chüd' in a cavern beneath the sewers. During the ritual, they face various forms of Pennywise and are subjected to hallucinations. They eventually confront the creature, and through a series of actions, they manage to shrink and ultimately destroy it. The film concludes with the survivors dealing with the aftermath, including the death of Eddie Kasprak, and the members moving on with their lives, while the truth of Stanley's sacrifice is revealed.
