The story
Jane, a bakery owner in Santa Barbara, has been divorced from Jake Adler for ten years. When they attend their son's college graduation in New York City, they share a night of reminiscing that leads to a secret affair. However, Jane soon finds herself increasingly drawn to Adam, the architect hired to remodel her home. As she navigates the complexities of her past and her present, she must decide where her loyalties lie while managing the secrets of her rekindled romance with her ex-husband and the growing connection with Adam.

Jane and her ex-husband Jake, who have been divorced for a decade, reconnect during their son's graduation in New York City and begin a secret affair. While Jake is dealing with health issues and a marriage to a much younger woman, Jane begins to find solace in the company of Adam, the architect hired to renovate her home. The tension peaks during a graduation party in Santa Barbara where the truth of their dynamic is nearly exposed. Ultimately, Jane chooses to end her affair with Jake, telling him she is not interested in getting back together. She reconciles with her children and finds a new beginning with Adam, who eventually reaches out to her again after the construction on her home begins.
