A musician with repossessed instruments tries to raise money for a club audition, while viewers’ telephone votes steer the story.
The story
Musician Jack is due to audition at a club that evening, hoping to secure a contract. But his debts have led to the repossession of his instruments, leaving him trying to raise the money he needs as quickly as possible. His efforts are not lawful. The story is interactive: viewers answer a question by telephone three times, and their choices determine how events proceed. The questions do not reveal what direction the plot will take, reflecting the idea that apparently small decisions can have major consequences.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The story revolved around the musician Jack, who was supposed to audition at a club that evening in the hope of getting a contract. However, because of his debts, his instruments were repossessed. Over the course of the film, he tried to raise the money he needed as quickly as possible, and he did not go about it legally. Meanwhile, viewers were asked a question three times, with the subsequent course of events depending on their choices. The voting took place by telephone. However, the question asked did not make it possible to foresee which direction the story would take; this was explained by the fact that apparently insignificant decisions can have major consequences in real life too. The ten possible storylines and five possible endings were all completely different. In the first broadcast, Jack ended up in prison. Immediately afterward, the film was shown a second time, and this time Jack actually got the contract. As announced beforehand, another possible ending, for example, would have involved Jack being abducted by aliens.
