Full plot (contains spoilers)

Four years after the previous film, Jack Reacher assists Major Susan Turner in busting a human trafficking ring. Following Turner's arrest for espionage, Reacher learns of a paternity suit filed by Candice Dutton. After a legal contact is murdered by a mercenary known as 'The Hunter,' Reacher and Turner escape and flee to New Orleans to find Daniel Prudhomme, the only witness to the crimes. They discover Prudhomme is linked to Parasource, a private military company. They eventually intercept a shipment of weapons and confront the company's CEO, General James Harkness. It is revealed that Harkens framed Turner for the murder of two soldiers while she was investigating his illegal trade of weapons and opium. After a final confrontation where Reacher defeats The Hunter, Turner is reinstated. Reacher meets the girl from the paternity suit, Samantha, and learns she is not his daughter.
