After moving to her late sister’s secluded farmhouse, Julia investigates a death she believes was not suicide as eerie signs deepen the divide with her skeptical husband.

The story

Facing financial hardship, Julia and Felix move with their son Niko into the dilapidated house of Julia’s late sister Jette, on a secluded farm. Jette recently took her own life, but Julia does not believe it was suicide. Eerie noises and Jette’s voice on the radio seem to Julia like signs from beyond the grave, prompting her to investigate her sister’s death. She discovers a local legend about Gothus, a Germanic god said to take the sick and children for his own purposes. Felix rejects belief in legends, gods, and ghosts, insisting that the strange events in the house have a rational explanation.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Facing financial hardship, Julia and her husband Felix move with their son Niko into the dilapidated house of Julia’s late sister, Jette, who recently took her own life. While Felix hopes the move to the secluded farm will give them a fresh start, Julia is deeply affected by her sister’s suicide. She does not believe it was suicide. Then, when she hears eerie noises and Jette’s voice on the radio, she believes she is hearing signs from beyond the grave and wants to uncover the real cause of her sister’s death. In doing so, she comes across an old local legend about the Germanic god Gothus, who takes the sick and children, uses them for his own purposes, and then kills them. Julia suspects Jette fell victim to him. Felix does not believe in legends, gods, or ghosts, and tries to convince Julia that there is a rational explanation for everything mysterious in the house. But when their son Niko returns from the forest completely changed, Julia is certain that Gothus has claimed him too.
