A desperate father takes a hospital emergency room hostage to secure a life-saving heart transplant for his son.
The story
In Chicago, factory worker John Quincy Archibald and his wife Denise face a desperate crisis when their young son, Michael, collapses and requires an immediate heart transplant. Because of a lapse in their insurance coverage and a lack of personal savings, the hospital demands a massive down payment they cannot provide. When the hospital prepares to release Michael, John takes the emergency room staff and patients hostage at gunpoint, demanding that the hospital place his son on the transplant list. As a tense standoff ensues, John must navigate the demands of the police and the complexities of a failing healthcare system to save his son's life.
