Full plot (contains spoilers)
After reclaiming his stolen motorcycle, John Wick is approached by Santino D'Antonio, who invokes a 'marker'—a blood oath—forcing John to assassinate Santino's sister, Gianna. John travels to Rome to complete the task, where he kills Gianna but is pursued by her bodyguards, Cassian and Ares. After a series of skirmishes, John is forced to flee, and a contract is placed on his head. In New York, John survives a grueling fight with Cassian and seeks help from the 'Bowery King' to navigate the high-stakes environment. He eventually infiltrates a gala to eliminate Santino's men and executes Santino in the Continental lounge. This act causes the high-level 'High Table' to declare him 'excommunicado,' stripping him of his protections and making him a target for every assassin in the underworld.
