John Wick must navigate a gauntlet of enemies and high-stakes challenges to overcome the High Table's ultimate authority.
The story
In New York City, John Wick, hiding underground with the Bowery King, recovers after being shot off the roof of the Continental Hotel by Winston. Seeking to exact vengeance against the High Table, he travels to Morocco and kills the Elder, the 'one who sits above the Table'. In response, the High Table sends the Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont with unlimited resources to kill John. The Marquis then enlists John's old friend, Caine – a blind, retired High Table assassin – to kill him, forcing Caine to comply by threatening to murder his daughter.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After the Marquis enlists Caine to hunt him, John seeks refuge at the Osaka Continental, where he faces off against Caine and High Table enforcers. Following a confrontation with Mr. Nobody, John returns to New York and meets Winston, who suggests challenging the Marquis to a duel to win freedom from the High Table. John travels to Berlin to gain the necessary status, eventually facing the Marquis in a high-stakes duel in Paris. The duel, involving both John and Caine as proxies, culminates in a tense standoff at Sacré-Cœur. John ultimately defeats the Marquis, securing his freedom and reinstating Winston as manager of the New York Continental. The film ends with John reflecting on his life before collapsing, while Caine is confronted by a vengeful Akira.
