A lonely widower's life is upended when a blue humanoid alien crashes into his backyard garden.
The story
Milton Robinson, a 78-year-old widower, finds his quiet life disrupted when a spaceship crashes in his backyard, releasing a blue humanoid alien. While others dismiss his claims as signs of senility, Milton takes the creature in as a house guest. He soon discovers the alien only eats apples and faces growing pressure from his daughter regarding his mental health. When local neighbors also discover the alien, the group must navigate the complexities of hiding the visitor while the alien works to repair its vessel, all while Milton struggles with his own fading faculties and the scrutiny of the local community.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Milton Robinson, a 78-year-old widower, finds a blue humanoid alien in his garden after a spaceship crash. While the community dismisses his claims as senility, Milton cares for the alien, whom he and his neighbors (Sandy and Joyce) name Jules. As Jules works to repair his ship, Milton faces a mental evaluation and a push toward assisted living. The plot intensifies when Jules uses telepathic powers to stop a robbery attempt by a man attacking Sandy, drawing police attention. To power the ship, the group must find seven dead cats, a task they undertake while being secretly watched by police. After Joyce sacrifices her cat to complete the repairs, Jules offers the group a chance to leave Earth. Just as Milton hesitates due to a call from his daughter, NSA agents storm his home. The group flees on the UFO, and Milton eventually drops them off at another location on Earth, where they go their separate ways.
