A group of friends and two unexpected guests become trapped in a video game world where they must navigate new challenges and avatars to escape.

The story

Two years after their first adventure in Jumanji, a group of friends—Spencer, Anthony, Martha, and Bethany—plan to reunite over Christmas break. When Spencer disappears into the game to retrieve and repair the broken console, his friends follow him to save him. They are joined by Spencer's grandfather Eddie and his friend Milo, who are also sucked into the game. The group finds themselves in a new version of Jumanji, facing a drought and a new villain. They must navigate the game's world using a mix of familiar and new avatars, struggling to adapt to their roles while attempting to find the magical Falcon Jewel to escape the game.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After their first adventure, Spencer Gilpin feels his life lacks glamour and returns to Jumanji to feel like his avatar, Dr. Smolder Bravestone. His friends—Anthony, Martha, and Bethany—follow him into the game to rescue him, and they are joined by Spencer's grandfather Eddie and his friend Milo. The group is surprised by a new plot: Jumanji is suffering from a drought, and they must recover the stolen Falcon Jewel from the warlord Jurgen the Brutal. They encounter various obstacles, including a stampede of ostriches, and eventually find a river of magical water that allows them to switch avatars. This allows the friends to return to their original roles while Eddie and Milo take on the forms of a thief and a horse. After a series of battles, they successfully retrieve the jewel. The sunlight hits the jewel, and they call out Jumanji's name to complete the game. While most return to the real world, Milo chooses to stay in his new form. In a post-credits scene, a repairman accidentally triggers the game again, causing creatures from Jumanji to appear in the real world.
