Jürgen - Heute wird gelebt (2017)

Jürgen Dose is a doorman and lives with his bedridden mother in a high-rise housing estate in Hamburg. His only friend is Bernd Würmer, who uses a wheelchair. Both are over 40 and still looking for the woman of their dreams. An attempt at speed dating fails, so they turn to a matchmaking agency for women from Eastern Europe. The agency owner, Schindelmeister, lets them choose Polish women from a catalogue. At their very first meeting, both men take an interest in the assistant, Anja. Along with other loners looking for partners, they travel to Szczecin. Bernd is unhappy that Jürgen gets along so well with Anja. When Bernd arrives late for his date one evening because of a flat wheelchair tire, Jürgen pretends to be him, since his own date could not make it. The friends fall out, and Jürgen leaves on his own because he is needed to care for his mother. On the way to the train, he runs into Anja again; Schindelmeister has fired her. The two have no choice but to share a sleeper compartment for the journey back. A few days later, Bernd visits Jürgen. In the conversation that follows, Bernd admits that he actually no longer needs to use a wheelchair. The two agree to look for a woman through personal ads.
