Full plot (contains spoilers)

After an economic crisis in the mid-21st century, Europe descends into a civil war that lasts for years. As everything that makes up modern civilization is destroyed, a “Soldier King” (whose name is never mentioned, though the screenplay identifies him as Karnak) discovers the ancient martial art and raises an army. But he does not master it completely, because the masters refuse to teach him how to reach its final level. He therefore decides to kill all the masters. The old masters record their knowledge in a book, which consequently becomes the Soldier King’s target. In his megalomania, however, he overestimates himself when he faces the last of the old masters and is killed by him in combat. Bosco and Kleo, the Soldier King’s (incestuous) children, continue their father’s reign of terror and want to expand it with the help of the book. A few years later, Jonas Klingenberg is the old master’s last pupil when Bosco and Kleo kill Jonas’s master and steal the book. Jonas is so badly injured that Bosco and Kleo think he is dead. After he recovers, however, Jonas considers it his duty to bury his master and then avenge him. He encounters a group of deserters and persuades them to join him in fighting Bosco. After Jonas recovers the book, Bosco tries to track him down and does not hesitate to threaten and intimidate homeless people to force them to hunt Jonas. But Jonas wins them over as allies and trains them in combat. However, after there is a traitor in Jonas’s ranks, Bosco’s elite unit attacks the unsuspecting rebels and captures Jonas’s friend Vinzent. During the rescue mission, Vinzent’s sister Marie is captured. The two now try to free Marie. This leads to a fight between Jonas and Bosco, in which Bosco first sets his best pupil on Jonas. After Jonas defeats him, he faces Bosco himself and kills him.
