Full plot (contains spoilers)

Susan has a husband, Richard, and a son, Jimi. Because they don’t have much time for one another, they move from New York to Woodstock, where Richard takes over a medical practice. After arriving, Susan discovers that Lucas also lives in town. Susan had an affair with him while married to Richard, and Lucas is Jimi’s biological father—Susan’s secret. Lucas works at the school Jimi attends, and because Jimi looks like him, Lucas becomes curious about who Jimi really is and tries to get close to him. One day, Jimi goes to Lucas’s house and discovers that Lucas has photographs of Jimi’s family on his computer. Lucas has to explain why. When Jimi learns the truth, he runs away. Lucas rushes to Susan and Richard and tells them that Jimi has run away because Lucas told him the truth. Susan learns from one of Jimi’s friends that they have a secret place by a hippie van. Lucas and Richard drive there in Lucas’s car and find Jimi. Richard takes Jimi home, but Jimi doesn’t want to ride in Lucas’s car, so they decide to walk. When they reach the road, a car stops for them. At home, Susan explains to Richard and Jimi what happened back then and that she was afraid to admit it. Jimi wants to be alone and goes to his room; after a while, Richard goes to him. Jimi is afraid that Richard will want to divorce Susan now that he has learned she was unfaithful to him, but Richard assures him that he doesn’t want a divorce, that Jimi is still his son, and that what happened wasn’t only Susan’s fault—Richard also bears some responsibility. The next day, Richard tells Susan that after they had argued, Lucas came looking for her at their house, and Richard told Lucas that no Susan lived there.
