A newly empowered avenger takes on a resurrected criminal mastermind hunting a world-dominating formula or weapon in Istanbul.
The story
After a crime syndicate revives Kilink, an international criminal mastermind in a skeleton costume and grinning skull mask, he comes to Istanbul seeking formulas that could let him rule the world—or a weapon emitting ultraviolet rays. Kilink kills Professor Hulusi, the keeper of the crucial formulas. Grieving son Osman encounters a mysterious white-bearded figure after an accidental explosion at his father’s grave. The figure, Shazam Baloum, gives Osman superpowers and a secret magic word. Speaking it transforms Osman into the Flying Man, whose mission is to avenge his father and stop Kilink from obtaining the formula or weapon.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Kilink, an international criminal mastermind known for his skeleton costume and grinning skull mask, lies mummified in a coffin for a long time. A crime syndicate brings him back to life, and he comes to Istanbul in search of formulas that would enable him to rule the world, or a weapon that emits ultraviolet rays (described in some sources as a weapon capable of bringing about the end of the world). Kilink kills Professor Hulusi, who possesses these crucial formulas. Deeply grieving his father’s death, Professor Hulusi’s son encounters a mysterious, white-bearded figure who appears after an accidental explosion at his father’s grave. This figure, named Shazam Baloum, gives Osman superpowers and a magic word such as “Shazem,” which he must never say in anyone’s presence. When Osman speaks the magic word, he appears in an explosion and assumes the identity of the Flying Man (a character with a Superman-like costume and a Batman-like mask). From then on, the Flying Man’s sole aim is to avenge his father and stop Kilink, preventing the formula or weapon from falling into the wrong hands. A fast-paced, fantastical series of chases and fights between Kilink and the Flying Man unfolds on the streets of Istanbul and in various other locations. The Flying Man can fly and is impervious to bullets. At the end of the film, after their fierce struggle, Kilink is captured by the Turkish police.
