Full plot (contains spoilers)
Guillaume and Magali Brunel lead a quiet, simple life in the suburbs as they await the happy event, but everything changes when they receive a letter. Guillaume’s father, whom he never knew, is dying and wants to see him to give him his inheritance: the island of Guerrelande, off the coast of Brittany, acquired through murky medieval dealings, and the title of king that comes with it. As Guillaume tries to find out more, Magali is thrilled by the promised palace and the riches announced. The Kingdom of Guerrelande is a fictional country in the English Channel, independent since 1415, when the King of England granted a 46-hectare island to Geoffroy Delagny as a reward for betraying France. Its flag consists of three vertical stripes, following the same design as France’s, and is colored white, white, and white.
