Kleine Eheverbrechen (2023)

Lisa and Gilles Sobiri have been married for 15 years. Lisa works as a piano teacher, and Gilles is a successful crime writer. After a domestic accident, Lisa collects Gilles from the hospital, where he has been suffering from amnesia ever since, and they go home—to their beautiful house with a large, romantic garden beside a quiet lake. Since Gilles apparently cannot remember his life so far, Lisa takes the opportunity to shape him according to her own ideas, for example, by trying to make him vegan or a dog lover. Her friend and neighbor Pia supports her in this. Pia’s husband Marc wants to take advantage of the situation and is keen to borrow Gilles’s motorcycle, which had never been easy even before the memory loss. But Gilles’s behavior repeatedly makes him doubt that the amnesia is genuine. Gilles, for his part, questions everything: himself and his identity, Lisa and her role as his wife, their life together, and his career, because he apparently cannot remember anything. There are moments of closeness and happiness between Lisa and Gilles when, in flashbacks, they recall the great love they once shared. But these snapshots are repeatedly shattered by events in their marriage as it is now, painting a picture of two people who have grown very far apart—a situation also due to Gilles’s vanity and success. To make matters worse, his literary agent Rose appears; before the accident, he had been having an affair with her. As the story progresses, details of the couple’s life together come to light, turning a great love story into a great drama. Gilles tries to rekindle and save their old love by finding out what Lisa needs. Lisa tries to overcome the hurt she has suffered, with support from her mother, Helen.
