Her father is seriously ill, while her mother’s attention is consumed by the family crisis, leaving Jasna largely detached from home. She spends her free time with girlfriends, partying and recording everyday moments on her phone. At school she becomes involved with Đole, a boy who initially shows little interest in her. Their relationship is sexual but emotionally distant, and Jasna continues pursuing his attention even as she neglects school and her father’s worsening condition. She struggles to communicate her worries and seeks a connection that Đole is unwilling to offer.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Jasna lives with her parents and her younger sister, Milica, in a Belgrade suburb. Her father is seriously ill; her mother is consumed by the situation and has little time for her adolescent daughter. Jasna largely keeps herself apart from her family and spends most of her free time with her girlfriends. The girls often sneak out and use THC and cocaine as well as drinking alcohol. Their appearance and how they present themselves are very important to them. Jasna records many everyday, as well as intimate, moments on her phone. She meets a boy named Đole and falls in love with him. Đole goes to the same school and initially shows no interest in Jasna. Gradually, she manages to attract his attention. They develop a purely sexual relationship in which Đole treats her roughly and disparagingly and avoids any kind of attachment. Even so, Jasna keeps seeking him out. She increasingly neglects school. More and more often, she skips class after a night of heavy partying. Her father's condition continues to deteriorate. A wealthy uncle from Qatar eventually makes the life-saving operation possible by buying the grandparents' house in Gajdobra. The grandparents move into the family's small apartment. Jasna shows little interest in her father and tries to hide his condition from her friends. When her class visits an orphanage, she realizes how valuable a father is. Even so, she finds it difficult to talk to her father about his illness. She wants to open up to Đole about her feelings and worries, but he is not interested. The girl becomes increasingly fixated on winning him over. Even her closest friends lose their influence over her. In the end, she even provokes the boy in an attempt to make him her partner.
