Po must confront a peacock warlord and his own past to protect China.

The story

In the present day, Po enjoys life as the Dragon Warrior alongside the Furious Five, although Master Shifu warns him that he has not yet achieved inner peace. Meanwhile, Shen's army raids villages for metal to build cannons that Shen will use to conquer China. Po and the Five intercept them, but an emblem on the head wolf's armor gives Po a memory flash of when he last saw his mother. Po consults his father, Mr. Ping, who reveals that he found Po as a cub in a crate of radishes outside his restaurant and adopted him when no one came to claim him. Po and the Five are dispatched to Gongmen City after learning that Shen has killed one of the regents.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Long ago, the peacock rulers of Gongmen City were warned by a Soothsayer that their son, Lord Shen, would be defeated by a 'warrior of black and white' if he continued to weaponize fireworks. To avoid this, Shen slaughtered a panda village and was banished. In the present, Po and the Furious Five travel to Gongmen City to stop Shen from using his cannons to conquer China. During the journey, a mysterious emblem triggers a memory in Po regarding his biological parents. After a series of skirmishes and a failed attempt to destroy Shen's cannons, the Five are captured while Po is left alone. He is eventually healed by the Soothsayer and learns the truth of his past: his mother sacrificed herself to save him. Having achieved inner peace, Po returns to Gongmen City and faces Shen's fleet. He uses his inner peace to deflect cannonballs and destroy the ships. In the final confrontation, Shen is crushed by his own machinery. Po returns to the Valley of Peace, acknowledging Mr. Ping as his father, while his biological father, Li Shan, senses he is still alive.
