Full plot (contains spoilers)
The film retraces the story of the Manouchian-Boczov-Rayman group, dubbed “The Army of Crime” by an antisemitic propaganda campaign. The group comprised twenty-three Resistance fighters executed by the Nazis (22 men shot at dawn at Mont Valérien and one woman beheaded later), most of them of foreign origin. About thirty years later, actors are preparing to welcome some survivors of this painful period, who knew or had been in contact with these martyrs of the Resistance and wish to join with the actors, who are about to inhabit the roles of the various Resistance fighters and bring to the stage the remembrance and memory of the victims and the few survivors of that time.
