A man who has spent years living under an assumed Italian identity is thrown into turmoil when his father asks him to fast for Ramadan.
The story
Mourad Ben Saoud, a Franco-Algerian, has spent years presenting himself as Dino Fabrizzi, an Italian working at a Maserati dealership in Nice. When his boss, Charles, prepares to retire, he must choose a successor between Mourad and Cyril, an incompetent racist. Mourad’s carefully maintained persona extends to his personal life: his fiancée Hélène runs a bridal shop, while he tells others that his family lives in Italy. In reality, his parents and siblings live near Marseille, and he has told them a different story about his work and fiancée. After a family meal and a medical emergency, his father asks him to fast for him during Ramadan, putting Mourad’s double life under strain.

Mourad Ben Saoud, a Franco-Algerian, has spent many years passing himself off as “Dino Fabrizzi,” an Italian who works at a Maserati dealership in Nice. His boss, Charles, decides to retire and must choose a successor between Mourad and Cyril, an incompetent racist. Mourad also has a fiancée, Hélène, who runs a bridal shop. He makes everyone believe that his family lives in Italy, when in fact his parents, sister, and brother live near Marseille. Mourad also lies to his family, claiming that he works in Italy and that his fiancée is waiting for him there. During a family meal, after showing off his tap-dancing, Mourad’s father suffers a medical emergency and asks his son to fast in his place during Ramadan. Mourad then finds himself trapped by his double identity.
