Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1988, Simon Atlan, a police officer in the narcotics squad and a Jewish Algerian, is in Sète to board a cargo ship whose captain and crew are drug and arms traffickers. Among them, Karim, a Muslim, turns out to be a police officer on an undercover mission. The encounter between the two men is rather stormy. Back in Paris, Karim receives an apology from Commissioner Joulin, Simon Atlan’s superior. He applies to join the narcotics squad, and Simon Atlan becomes his new partner. Their mission is to dismantle a network distributing very pure cocaine in Parisian high schools. Karim and Simon are forced to work together despite their mutual animosity and opposing religious convictions. Very soon, Simon discovers that his partner is not a police officer but a member of the DGSE, and that behind the drug network they are investigating are radicalized Islamists acting on behalf of a Middle Eastern country. One of its diplomats, a certain Ali Radjani, uses his diplomatic immunity as cover to take in marginalized, undocumented immigrants, whom he feeds, houses, and regularizes, while filling their heads with violent jihadist rhetoric in order to make them fanatical.
